Great food! Overpriced?

Posted by CSMobileUser on 3/8/2009

The food is great! It is good homecooked food. I think the place is a little overpriced. $5 dollars for a little side bowl of arroz con gandules. I got entre pollo a la plancha and arroz con gandules for $14. Maybe I will try it again.

Great food! Overpriced?

The food is great! I like the homecooked food style at this place. It is basic Cuban and/or Puerto Rican food which includes the famous arroz con gandules. However, I found it a overpriced. 3 of us had dinner there and it was $90 dollars including tip. Side dishes are expensive: small bowl side of arroz con gandules was $5 dollars. Pasteles (Tamal-like) side was $6 a piece. I got pollo a la plancha and arroz con gandules for $14 dollars or so. I think it is a great place for food, but overpriced. Especially considering i've had great meals at India Palace in Hillcrest for 3 for under $60 dollars and that place is the bomb with GREAT quality curries! I might try it again, but only carry out and only main entre.

The best Cuban & Puerto Rican food

Very Good Authentic Cuban Food

Posted by jmasterj on 8/10/2007

Having lived in South Florida for many years, I've dined at many Cuban restaurants from the high-end to the low-end and everything in between. Stopped by Andre's for lunch, place was clean and tastefully decorated, restrooms were clean, one waitress serving 6-7 tables and service was fast and friendly. Lunch menu seemed limited but that's to be expected, saw some of my favorites, roast pork, palomilla steak, and surprisingly carne con papas which was only served on Mondays at my local FL place, of course I ordered it and it was fantastic. The rice was excellent, beans were a little salty but still very good. Plantains didn't come with the meal but were available as a side order, didn't try them but should've. My dining partner had a steak sandwich and she ate the entire thing and practically licked the plate, she never had Cuban food before and was pleasantly surprised, I let her sample my black beans and she loved them. I will definately eat here again soon, this time for dinner so I can see the entire menu. Prices were reasonable. What else can I say, I'll eat here a few more times and post another review.
